About SimRacingPicks
Diego Ramirez
Sim Racing Engineer & Long-Term Tester
Former motorsport telemetry engineer based in Austin, TX. Daily-drives an iRacing rig with a Simucube 2 Pro and Heusinkveld Sprints, plus a secondary console rig with a Logitech G Pro for GT7. I've benched 30+ wheelbases and pedal sets against real-world feedback metrics over the last six years. Every recommendation here is verified against owner-community consensus from r/simracing, r/iRacing, and the leading sim racing YouTube reviewers.
Why this site exists
The sim racing internet is full of review sites that recommend whatever pays the highest affiliate rate. Owner-community forums have better signal — but it's buried under endless rig-build threads, brand tribalism, and contradictory takes between iRacing diehards and casual GT7 drivers.
SimRacingPicks started as a personal spreadsheet tracking every wheel base, pedal set, and rig I benched against telemetry — first at work, then at home — and compared against community consensus. Eventually it became something worth publishing.
How we evaluate hardware
Every recommendation on this site comes from:
- Long-term rig testing — Every wheel, pedal set, and base I recommend gets at least a month on my main rig with telemetry overlays in iRacing, ACC, and Le Mans Ultimate. I log force feedback fidelity, pedal repeatability, and build wear.
- Sim racing community sentiment — Owner forums and the major sim racing communities (iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Gran Turismo, F1 Game). I read and aggregate community feedback over months, not days.
- Reviewer cross-reference — Verdicts from the most-trusted independent channels (Boosted Media, Sim Racing Garage, PRC Sim Racing, Race Beyond Matter, SuperGT, Mike Does Cars) — every cited score links to the source video.
- Amazon verified purchase reviews — For long-term reliability and real-world QC signals, especially for entry-level wheels and pedals where variance matters.
Affiliate disclosure
SimRacingPicks participates in the Amazon Associates program. When you purchase through links on this site, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how the site stays funded and free of ads.
Affiliate relationships do not influence recommendations. Every product I recommend is something I have personally driven on the rig. I do not accept review samples in exchange for positive coverage.
Content update policy
Every product page has a "Last updated" date. Content is revisited when new firmware, successor models (Fanatec ClubSport DD vs DD+, Moza R5 vs R9, Logitech G29 vs G Pro), significant price changes, or new force-feedback measurement data materially affects the recommendation. Reviews don't silently go stale.
